The organic culture of Hungarian Roma music infusing jazz. The students of Snétberger Music Talent Center are often invited to hold concerts both in Hungary and abroad. Out of the sixty students of the Center three will perform at this time. Zsolt Farkas (piano) and Adrián Szajkó (double bass) come from the Hungarian-inhabited part of Slovakia, from dynasties of musicians. The drummer, Róbert Nagy, used to be self-educated until last year and the Center made it possible for him to work with distinguished teachers, including the excellent Norwegian drummer and percussionist Paolo Vinaccia.
With the generous support of the Norway Grants and of the Government of Hungary, Snétberger Music Talent Center opened its doors in the summer of 2011 at Felsőőrs, a small town in the Balaton Highlands in Hungary. Fulfilling the dream of the founder and professional leader Ferenc Snétberger, the world famous guitarist of Roma origin, the Center trains young Roma who are open to jazz, world music and classical music. The teachers are predominantly members of the Hungarian Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music but international greats like Roby Lakatos, David Friedman and Richard Bona regularly hold master classes, too.
